Logan is two months old!

Wow, how quickly time goes by! I can't believe that our little guy is already two months old. Logan was born weighing in at 7 pounds, 3 ounces and measuring 19.5 inches. At his two-month appointment, Logan weighed 11 pounds, 1 ounce and measured in at 23.25 inches! Yay, our little one is growing!

In the past month, Logan has changed so much. He can see further, recognize voices and faces a lot more. Also, he can hold up his neck pretty well. However, my favorite new thing he can do is smile and make noises (see attached video). It is absolutely adorable! I'm a sucker for those big blue eyes and happy smile.

I've gone back to Stroller Strides (a mom workout group) and Logan seems to be doing very well in the jogger. Also, I've joined Mom's Connection, which is a group of moms that meets every other Friday to chat about being a mom. We are given brunch, listen to a guest speaker and chat with other moms about our kids and life. It's so much fun!

I can't believe how quickly Logan is growing! While I'm excited to see each new phase of his life and how much he changes, I also don't want him to grow up too fast. I feel like time is truly flying by. We are so blessed to have such an amazing little boy and are enjoying every moment of it.

Daddy Time

Josh is a great father and is very helpful. Logan and him have a special bond and do things together, such as evening feedings, bath time and watching Cowboys games! Logan's Birth
On Friday, July 23, 2010, our son, Logan Joshua Murty, entered the world! We are so happy and so in love with our little one! Thank you God for giving us such a precious bundle of joy.

On July 22nd (one day after my due date), Josh and I went to see my doctor. We had an ultrasound and then sat down with my doctor to discuss what was next. Josh kept saying that the baby was going to arrive in August, so you can imagine our surprise when our doctor announced that she wanted us to go to the hospital so that I could be induced. Since my amniotic fluid was low and I was a day past my due date, the doctor decided that it was time to get the baby out. We were shocked and excited!

We arrived at St. Jude Hospital an hour later. At 6:30 pm, the nurse started me on pitocin. Pitocin, for those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, is a drug used to put the body into labor. Therefore, pitocin was given to me to begin my contractions. I was doing fine until about 11 pm or so when I started to feel the contractions, mostly in my back. At 1 am, I was dialated to 3 centimeters, my contractions were 2 minutes apart and lasting 45 seconds to a minute each. At this point, Josh, my mom and the nurse all talked me into getting an epidural. I wasn't against the epidural but I wanted to try and go a little longer without it; however, Josh said that since my contractions were only going to get closer together, it would be difficult to stay still to receive an epidural later, so I gave in.

Everything was going great until my blood pressure dropped and so did the baby's heart rate. The nurse decided to insert an internal fetal heart monitor to closely monitor Logan's heart rate. Then I was given something to increase my heart rate to help bring up my blood pressure; however, Logan's heart rate was still low. At this point, the nurse inserted fluid into my uterus so that Logan would be able to move around and not sit on the umbilical cord. I was really nervous and upset because his heart rate was decreasing, I had all these things coming out of my body, and the nurse had to keep coming in the room to re-position me in hopes to bring up his heart rate. It just wasn't the way I had imagined it to be. Since his heart rate was still low, the nurse decided to take me off of the pitocin. It was about 5 am and I was about 6-7 centimeters at this time. I was really worried that my contractions would stop, therefore prolonging the delivery.

At 6 am, the nurse checked me again and I was 10 centimeters. My mom and Josh were both sleeping at this time, so they were surprised to be woken up to the nurse saying, "It's time for her to push!" At 6:15 am I began pushing. I was really worried that I would be pushing for a long period of time because I could not feel anything. My legs and everything were completely numb so I wasn't quite sure how I was supposed to push if I couldn't feel any pressure. However, somehow I was able to do it. Logan came out sunny-side up at 6:38 am, weighing 7 lbs. 3 oz. and measuring 19 1/2 inches!

We are so beyond overjoyed! Josh and I couldn't believe what an amazing miracle the whole process is. We are so in love with our little guy and couldn't be happier!

Labor & Delivery

Post-Partum

Thank you so very much to all of our family and friends who visited us in the hospital and brought us beautiful flowers, yummy food, and lots of warm wishes. From the minute we entered our room, it was filled with visitors wanting to meet our little guy. Logan was in someone's arms all day and night long. Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of all of our visitors, so my apologies to those of you who are missing. We love all of you very much!
