We're Pregnant!

On November 15th, I took a pregancy test and realized that I am pregnant! When the plus sign appeared on the test, I couldn't believe it. In fact, I had to call Josh over to read it for himself. Josh's first reaction was shock! I immediately wanted to take a second test to confirm it but struggled over opening the package because I was shaking and crying tears of joy. Once our pregnancy was confirmed, Josh and I have been filled with happiness and life seems surreal!

Now we are 11 weeks pregnant and I can't believe how quickly time has flown by. I am almost finished with my first trimester! Aside from getting morning sickness once, occasional queasiness, and extreme exhaustion--my new bedtime is 8:30--everything has been wonderful! Since it is still too early in the pregnancy and I can't feel the baby move, I often wonder if I'm really pregnant. Like I said, it is surreal!

We hope by creating this blog we will be sharing with our friends and family all the special moments to come in the next nine months and all the wonderful memories to be created over the next many years! Please enjoy our posts.

In order to share our big news with our closest family and friends, we created these magnets as a way for them to "save the date". However, our actual due date was changed to JULY 21, 2010!

Here's our first ultrasound! It was amazing to see the baby's heartbeat!

Our ultrasound tech told us that at nine weeks of age, our baby is the size of a penny!

On the day I found out I was pregnant, I immediately needed to share the news with my mom, dad and sister; however, I wanted to share the news in a memorable way. I created a sign that stated, "Congratulations Mimi, Grandpa and Tia"--which is what my mom, dad and sister would like to be called. I taped the positive pregnancy test to the sign and took a picture of it. Josh and I developed the picture and placed it in a card we bought for them. We gave the card to my parents and told them it was in appreciation for all of the support they have given us. When my mom opened the card and saw the picture, it took a minute before she realized what she was looking at and then she was filled with emotion. Since she has realized the news, happiness has not left her face.

Not long after I found out I was pregnant, I shared the news with my best friend Jamie. Her heartfelt reaction was both emotional and priceless.

Some of our closest friends--the Nesselroads and the Dowdees--were beginning to wonder why I wasn't drinking wine or coffee lately, so we decided to have them over for an Italian dinner and share the wonderful news!

Auntie Kristy was happy to hear the news!

Emily is very excited to become an auntie!

The last few years, all of our friends have gathered together for a Christmas potluck and gift exchange. We thought this special occasion would be the perfect time to share our special news.

All of the girls toasting to the exciting news!

Every year for the past seven years, we have gotten together with my two best friends (Angela and Joelle) and their husbands to celebrate our annual Christmas dinner! Each year we alternate the house where we throw the Christmas party at, and this year it was Joelle and Aram's house. When Josh and I found out we were pregnant, we knew that our annual Christmas dinner would be the perfect time to share our special news with our dearest friends.

This time, instead of taking pictures, Josh took a video clip of Angela, Mike, Joelle and Aram's reactions! Before Josh took the video, I handed Joelle and Mike an envelope that contained the magnet. However, before Mike could open the envelope, Angela guessed our exciting news and that is where the video begins.

This year Angela gave birth to beautiful, little Lillie on November 25th, and we realized that next year our little one would be present! We then realized that between the three of us, we would have a new bundle of joy at our annual Christmas party for the next few years! How exciting!

Over the Christmas holiday, we shared our big news with our families!
